When I was young, I told myself that I was going to sing, and I was going to be associated with top-notch singers. It would have been nice to have become one of those singers, but I guess I should have set the bar higher while the window of wish-granting was open.

At 30, I can now look back and see that I hit the target and met my goal — some of my best friends are people you know and have in your CD players. Grammys, Doves, millions of CDs sold, performances at the Ryman, Carnegie, A Prairie Home Companion, videos on CMT and GAC, the list could go on for days. I’m glad these people are my friends.
